Director: Budapesti Tavaszi Fesztivál
Outstanding Hungarian bassist Mátyás Szandai has lived and worked in Paris for a long time. This was where he met Brazilian guitarist Nelson Veras, an original talent who was discovered by Pat Metheny at the age of fourteen. Later Szandai also made the acquaintance of Cuban tenor saxophonist Ricardo Izquierdo, and the sensational French drummer Fabrice Moreau, a self-taught musician who first made a name as a painter.
While each of them comes from different musical cultures and owns a distinct voice, the four share a penchant for compositional discipline, virtuosity, a Latin American zest, effortlessness, and elegance. Intensive work followed the formation of the band, and in the summer of 2018 they recorded their debut album for BMC Records.
