A valós események által ihletett történelmi játékfilm Nicolae Ceauşescu életútját mutatja be a scorniceşti-i indulástól egészen addig a pillanatig, amíg a Párt és az ország első emberévé válik. Az elbeszélés, amely egyedi nézőpontból, a kommunisták és a felső vezetés szemszögéből bontakozik ki előttünk, egy zavaros és erőszakos korszakba, ezen belül pedig a kommunista mozgalom létrejöttének kulisszatitkaiba beavatja a nézőt. Éppúgy szól a mai fiatalokhoz, mint azokhoz, akik a saját bőrükön tapasztalták meg a megidézett korszakot.
