Short English content: Bojdán, the well-known patron of arts, turns the beautiful flower girl into a dancer. Out of gratitude, Lola offers her love to her benefactor, but he rejects her, saying that an artist must live alone to make hundreds of thousands happy. The land-owner Eőri László falls in love with the successful dancer, and the two elope to his country estate. The idyll soon ends, as the young man, whose father threatens with disowning him, cannot accept his lover maintaining a contact with her former friends. Lola returns to the stage. László takes a job at the embassy in Paris, but is unable to forget his love for Lola. He goes to her and proposes to her, but Lola refuses to give up her profession, which is a calling to her. They break up again. Lola breaks down, yet she must appear on the stage. Her dance is amazing, but wilder and wilder. The untameable death-dance ends in her falling lifeless.
